Doluca Turkish Wines
28/10/19
Doluca, pioneering quality wine-making in Turkey since 1926.
For three generations, the family owned Turkish winery has produced multi- awarded wines, both from international and indigenous grape varietals. Doluca has 7 vineyards in the most prestigious producing regions in Turkey- Mamara, Aegean and Central Anatolian. Their indigenous grape varietals of Narince, Okuzgozu, Kalecik Karasi and Bogazkere are now available.
Narince -Considered the “Turkish Chardonnay” with notes of quince, nice acidity, dry and a beautiful roundness.
Okuzgozu- Turkish meaning is bull’s eye due to the shape of the berries. It has a lot of acidity and fruitiness which makes it a good candidate for barrel aging. Often blended with Bogazkere. It has fruit and floral flavours, making soft and easy to drink wines.
Kalecik Karasi- May be considered a summer red with a light profile, juicy and fruity, nice acidity, with notes of toasty cherries and perhaps strawberry jam.
Bogazkere- Very interesting varietal with nice tannins which may remind of Nebiollo, Tannat from Argentina or Baga in Portugal. Incredible richness and complexity in aromas, high elegance.
